Living surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Jakarta for a year, two Japanese ladies asked me if I could take them and the children to some outdoor places so they could enjoy the sun. A fun trip and yet safe for mother and children. So I offered them to go to Depok, a rural-urban area as the destination, and the said YESS!

I chose my house in Tanah Baru area as the meeting point plus a station to enjoy some Indonesian snacks and fruits. They were quite surprised to eat rambutan and salak for the first time.

Next, we went to F. Widayanto’s Gallery to see some paintings and ceramics. They were amazed by the beauty and the detail of the ceramics. The gallery itself is a nice beauty that we could enjoy. In addition, we were surrounded by the lavish green and vast area so the children could play. There was also a clay making class, but we didn’t have much time to join it. We would definitely make a come back here one day to make a tea pot.

The stroll continued to University of Indonesia; a bigger area for the children to play. We had a late lunch at 2.00 in Mang Engking, a big restaurant in the university area. The restaurant is floated on the water, surrounded by the forest, offering a tranquil feeling. The children giggled sometimes feeding the koi fish some rice. The also amazed by small plantations in the restaurant. It reminded them to their home town in Japan where they could see nature and enjoy the sun.

Unfortunately, they need to go home soon, so we said goodbye here. They enjoyed the stroll and asked me to take them again in the near future. So wait for my next article! Sayonara!
